Linda Hamilton Returns To Terminator

In some exciting news that was announced earlier today, Linda Hamilton will be returning to the Terminator franchise. Linda Hamilton last played the battle-hardened Sarah Connor in 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

James Cameron made the announcement earlier today at a private event. While Mr. Cameron will not be directing the new film, he will be overseeing the production. Tim Miller (Deadpool) has been brought on to direct. Linda Hamilton will be joining Arnold Schwarzenegger who is also set to return in the new film. The new film will apparently be a direct sequel to Terminator 2. The hope is that this film will start of a new trilogy. It appears that Mr. Cameron may be trying to follow in the footsteps of the new Star Wars trilogy.

We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story. We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it.

Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor in Terminator 2

The Shoot: I have to be honest, I’m excited about this news. The Terminator franchise is one of my all-time favorites. Since this news broke, James Cameron has been getting flak from all directions regarding his comments about Linda Hamilton’s return. He had said that he hopes her return will make a statement about gender roles in action films. He mentioned being able to see 50 and 60-year-old men killing guys in action films but you don’t see that with women. Yeah, sure we saw that in Wonder Woman earlier this year with Robin Wright and Connie Nelson but…they weren’t even in the film for that long. I personally liked Wonder Woman. I  don’t understand why James Cameron felt that the film was a step backward for women. I do feel, however, that I somewhat understand where he’s coming from regarding older actresses.
